This is really impressive for 2 and 1/2 weeks between three tests, but I wanted to quickly suggest something in case you do this gag again:
for Fact number 4, when the teacher is going down the check list - have the camera zoom in on the first 5 choices - and then when the teacher goes to check the last one, have the camera quickly pan down to the last choice"your hopeless" - it's more funnier that way XD.
Otherwise this was really well done.
I get it!
I laughed, I cried!
"Cut the crap dude!! Where does Sakurai live!?" XD
…My only suggestion is that, you probably should've ended the movie, right after the upside-down-paint-can joke or when he says "can I speak to your manager?" - you know, something that would allow you to end the movie with a really big joke.
Having you talk back and forth with Sakurai after that, kind of made the joke wear thin.
But other than that, I loved it, just on enthusiasm alone.
Great work! Keep it up!
But the text splashes move WAY too fast - If you want to get the timing right for your audience, make sure to read your text out loud. This will quickly determine how much time your audience will need, in order to read each tagline.
Like, I can understand it's a parody. People have been pulling this "too-quick-to-read-text" gag for years, but If I can't read it in a reasonable amount of time, then I'm not in on the joke.
Otherwise this is great.
I couldn't stop laughing. it's very clever. I'll just copy and paste what the last reviewer said.
"For the people who dont understand the Communistic elements of this flash:
1)The music. (duh)
2)There is red everywhere, and red happens to be the communist color. (Russian RED army)
3)His hammer, part of the hammer and sickle, whether it was inrended that way or not.
4)The flag at the end had a RED star."
Couldn't have done it better myself.
It's well thought out, nicely done, the voice acting isn't the best, but it doesn't have to be perfect in this case. I love the voice of goku, you've got character spot on, Kirby Morrow would be proud, or at least busting his gut over the impersonation.
Though this is just a suggestion, -like king of the hill and dilbert when they first started out: the animation/art wasn't as good as it could be. You'd probably reach a wider audience if it was up to par. People usually dismiss a cartoon just because of the fact that it's poorly drawn, funny or not. Plus, some of the characters would actually be identifiable ( I had a hard time telling it was spike from cow boy bebop, though the title sort of gave this away).
Don't get me wrong, the crude drawings actually work well with this series, and in a way it's very original, but you'd probably gain a lot more attention if it was not only funny, but good looking too..... sort of like the perfect girlfriend ;) .... or boyfriend, if you swing that way. :U
Blue Blur eye candy.
I've never been paticularly fond of "Sonic" flash movies. But this one sure peeked my interested. I don't know what you used, to get that kind of radiate (almost glossy) kind quality out of the characters. I keep rubbing my eyes, asking myself "Is this Flash?".
Truely this is something unique that the audience will come back for, if not for the story/cartoon, but for the use of flash itself.
In regards to presentation, you seem to know what your doing in comparision to others working in this genre. Though I'm getting somewhat tired of this Toei Animation rip from Sonic CD I keep seeing in these Sonic Flash movies.
Overall, I must say, I'm quite impressed. I don't usually review flash movies on newgrounds, let alone movies of this genre. So when I do, it usually means something.
It's funny how much a difference a year can make. Keep at it.
I'll be honest, I don't really know Ed Wood and I'm getting the feeling maybe I should before reviewing this. What intrigued me was the fact you used GTAVC screen shots to help move the story along. Which is unique. Not becaused you used GTA but the fact you went out of your way to create a movie in that world. I was actually impressed at the beginning. What disappointed me though was the stock footage. Not because it was randomly placed in there, but the fact that it wasn't your own. You probably could've taken the next step and try to emulate the stock footage as close as possible with the GTA world. Like the shot of the guy in the GTAVC car ( giving the finger?) pointing up at the monster and vicecity running in the background was brilliant. Now I know it's still using stock footage but it went with the theme. Again I don't really know Ed Wood, so these comments can't really be taken into account. But I can say this:
It was good, but it could've been better.
For your next movie, maybe try Dr.StrangeLove/ViceCity/Battle over Normandy or some generic ww2 shooter. just a suggestion, I love the theme though. It'll work, if it's done correctly.
I'm not even sure how to review this. Though, rest assured you'll forever be remebered as a comical genius among newgrounds. Either for your humour or because you're the only one whose been so malicious to TLF. It's very controverisal and very funny. Though the only downside is even though it's a unique type of humour, not everyone can laugh at it.
Can't wait to see the next one.
Back when i use to read 8 bit theatre, "Ouch" use to be one of my favorite episodes. And I said, "hey! this would make a pretty good cartoon". The one thing I thought that made 8-bit so famous was the humour. But for some reason it's no where to be found in this movie. You really gotta sit down and figure out what happened. Cause right now this movie's success is riding only on it's ranbid fans. This could've been ALOT better. And I think you know this too. If you know what's good for you, You'll listen to me and everyone else whose given this movie a bad review.
It's not the script, it's not the voice acting, it's the presentation, the movie itself.
Jeez, I mean, like what happened?
